LightCube concept focuses on the co-relation between the vertical movement and lighting of the elevator.

It suggests that lighting of the elevator can change depending on the position of the elevator. There can be different metaphors and light effects to emphasize this relation. One metaphor can be tetris game. When elevator is moving up, new pieces would drop down from ceiling of the elevator. If the journey is from ground to 3rd floor, at the end of the journey three horizontal lines would be completed by the lights. By means of using metaphors and changing the lighting dynamically, every journey becomes an unique experience in itself.

Briefly, Lightcube concept includes series of lights placed on a grid. This grid wall covers 2 side walls, ceiling and bottom of the elevator. Other two walls of the elevator is covered by mirror, in order to make the space feel bigger. Colors of the light can change to provide above mentioned effects.

Lightcube elevator design concept has been awarded 3rd prize in International Lift Design Competition 2009, held in Istanbul.
